Lionel Messi is 33 years of age and he has dedicated his whole professional career to Barcelona. Then for the club to threaten him with a legal lawsuit, must have been very difficult. What he would desire is a short contract with no long-term commitments and he would definitely want his no fee contract termination clause.

He would want a similar clause this time as well but if he does decide to use it in the future, Barca should just respect his decision and let him go.
