According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans are inching closer and closer to signing Garcia with an agreement between them already agreed.
To add to the good news, Manchester City are now more open to negotiations. Previously, they rejected a couple of offers from Barca because they were not high enough.
Reportedly, the side managed by Pep Guardiola are willing to let Garcia go for €5 million with another €5 million in variables which is half the price they were asking for in the summer.
Given the decrease the amount that the Catalan giants would need to spend to sign Garcia, the club are also now considering signing him during the winter transfer window.
The plan before that was to wait until the summer as Garcia would be a free agent and they would not need to pay a transfer fee to Manchester City.
Carles Tusquets, the interim president, is set to meet with the candidates who made the cut to discuss potentially authorizing the signing.
Over the past couple of weeks, Garcia has been made a priority over the likes of Memphis Depay who would cost about the same. The long-term injury to Gerard Pique was one of the reasons Barcelona felt necessary to prioritize a center-back over a forward.
Manager Ronald Koeman appears to be a fan of the player and has given his okay should the club go ahead and make an offer.
Garcia’s desire to return to his childhood club has not wavered despite Barcelona not being able to bring him in during the summer. He’s rejected City’s proposal for a contract extension and was willing to wait until his contract ran out.
Depending on what happens in the meeting between Tusquets and the presidential candidates, he could be coming home sooner rather than later.
