#2 Best Midfielder of the Year

Last season, the midfield was a bit lifeless. Playing players such as Riqui Puig and Arthur were not given much chance and older players like Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic were given the important matches. This season, however, one player has taken the club and the press by storm and that is of course, young talent, Pedri.

Brought in from Las Palmas for only five million euros, the player has been an absolute sensation. At the age of only 18, he has already made 12 starts in the La Liga this season and made 24 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona. This is one of the most successful breakthrough seasons for any youngster in the club’s history.

The midfielder plays with a lot of compassion and determination and he is trying to prove his worth to the team. Incredible on the ball and has good awareness off the ball aswell. He also has a brilliant work rate and runs up and down the entire length of the field throughout the match. He has a great sense of his surroundings and can thus play some brilliant passes and make some extraordinary runs.

Thus it is no surprise that he has already scored three goals and provided two assists in all competitions. His passion for the club reminded many of a younger Lionel Messi. He is exactly the kind of player Barcelona needs right now, young, talented, and motivated. Thus he rightly deserves the midfielder of the year award.
