Barcelona have 3 candidates for the Presidential race.

There were a total of 9 candidates that were officially running for the currently vacant presidential seat for Football club Barcelona. However, the situation has left out 3 specific members who will be running for president on the tentative election day of 7th March 2021. The three members from which one member will potentially be the future Barcelona president for quite some time are, Joan Laporta, Victor Font, and Toni Freixa.

The Barcelona electoral board have declared that only Joan Laporta, Victor Font, and Toni Freixa were able to collect the required amount of votes to run for the election, and one of them will be replacing the former Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Bartomeu was the Barcelona president since 2015. The Spaniard willingly resigned all by himself in the year 2020 after receiving a massive amount of media flares. Bartomeu was not exactly a fan favorite as it seemed like every decision of his backfired for some reason. Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele, and Antoine Griezmann were all signed for over 300 million euros in total during his reign and all of these players failed to deliver and live up to the hype.

Multiple times, the players too have complained about Bartomeu including Lionel Messi, who had stated that the Spaniard made a lot of unnecessary and baseless promises which he later failed to live up to. However, for now the Blaugrana are soon going to have a new president.

Things are looking up at the club as Ronald Koeman’s men are having a good run on the pitch. With the arrival of a new president, the team will probably get some transfers in to improve the unfinished squad under the Dutchman. Hence, on the 7th of March, the election will take place where one of the promising candidates will come out victorious and will begin a new era at the Nou Camp.
