The 18-year-old midfielder from Conakry, has been showing some real potential in Barcelona’s B team. When they signed him from Espanyol in 2010, his work rate and determination forced the club to change their internal system. The club recognized his potential and realized that they must keep him at all cost and thus they broke their salary structure for their academy to accommodate the player. One of his coaches said,
"“It was worth making the effort, because he’s responded as expected.”Source Sport"
He plays in commanding yet flamboyant fashion in the third tier of the La Liga and many compare his style of playing to that of Paul Pogba. His skillful feet and strong demeanor remind people of the French superstar and if he continues to work hard, he will no doubt reach Pogba’s heights. He is mature enough to give orders and carry out leadership roles when needed and this is a very good attribute of the player as he is showing his captainship abilities while he is still in the U-19s.
Ilaix Moriba aspires to be like Barcelona legend
While people say that his style reminds them of a mix of Pogba and Yaya Toure, it is Sergio Busquets that he aspires to be like. He does share similarities with the Barcelona legend when he is playing in a more attacking role and it looks like the club might have found their replacement for the aging midfielder. The Catalans are ready to give him a debut against Cornella in the Copa del Rey on Friday and he surely deserves this chance to impress Ronald Koeman and the rest of the team.
Should Barca play Ilaix regularly to take over Busquets one day?
