Although Barcelona could not afford the 22-year-old’s previous price tag, Lyon will surely reduce the player’s transfer fee after the recent wave of the pandemic which has put the French league under immense financial pressure.

Aouar was first being scouted by Mikel Arteta’s man back in August. However, Arsenal could only make one offer worth 35 million euros. The offer did not satisfy the french club as they valued the midfielder at 60 million euros. After going all-in for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, the North Londoners are pretty much out of the race which only leaves Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The two Spanish giants will surely want such a young and brilliant talent and both the club have been scouting him for a while. The French player still has two years left on his contract and Lyon will probably want to keep him at the club as they are fighting for the League title for the first time in many years. Lyon are only two points behind leaders, Paris Saint-Germain, and thus they would want to keep all of their best players.

However, with the financial situation worsening in France, the club may be forced to sell the young talent at a much lower price than expected. Simultaneously, Aouar also wants to join Barca or Real Madrid and the club may be willing to sell him now before his value plunges or they are forced to let him go for free.
