Barcelona B announce the return of sensational captain, Roger Riera
Barcelona B team is about to receive a huge upgrade as they have successfully signed former youth team captain, Roger Riera, on a free transfer. The Spanish centre-back will be coming back to his boyhood side after six years of gaining experience. He should be ready to go after his medical examination and he could feature in the game against AE Prat.

The 27-year-old defender had always been a leader and even captained Barcelona’s youth team. He even led the youth team to a UEFA Youth League trophy in the 2013-14 season. However, he was unable to break into the B side and thus decided to move to England. He played for Nottingham Forest’s under 19 side and then played for two B sides of La Liga teams, Villareal B and Celta Vigo B.
In 2019 he left Spain once more to join second-tier Dutch side, NAC Breda. He played 33 matches in the first season before the pandemic forced the league to be closed down. He has played 15 matches so far this season but he wishes to go back to his homeland and play for Barcelona B.
He is a much stronger and wiser player now, with years of experience which will surely help out the team. Barcelona’s interim board approved the move after insistence from B side’s coach, García Pimienta.
Barcelona B are currently in the third position in their group and Riera can definitely bring some more stability to the backlines. He has gained a lot more experience since his departure and his maturity will surely help the rest of the youngsters in the team. He is back to lead his boyhood club to victory.
