Eric Garcia’s transfer saga to Barcelona continues with another meeting being held especially for the player’s arrival. By now it is no secret that the player wants to join the club and the club also badly wants the player. He has been Ronald Koeman’s target since his arrival at Barcelona and he might get the player before the end of the winter transfer window.

More from Everything Barca

A meeting was held before between the Presidential candidates and the interim President of Barcelona regarding Garcia. It was decided then that it would be best for the club to wait until the end of the season to sign the 20-year-old as then they would get him for free rather than paying any amount of money to Manchester City. However, there have been reports which suggest that Arsenal are also trying to buy the player and thus Barcelona may have to close down the deal earlier than expected.

A meeting will take place today at 7 pm amongst Joan Laporta, Toni Freixa, Victor Font, and Carles Tusquets. Although the main reason for the meeting is to discuss sporting issues and about the upcoming election on March 7th, they will also discuss the young centre-back who is longing to return home.

Font will be presenting his case to the others for signing the player right away as he believes that they can get the player for less than 3 million euros this season. Manchester City have agreed to a deal worth only 3m euros, plus some add ons but they have also agreed to charge the fee later. Garcia on the other hand has agreed to play the remainder of the season without any salary. His whole six month’s salary would be paid after the end of the season.

These terms make the player very affordable and they must make a move fast as Arteta is waiting to steal the player from under their noses. However, we must remember that Barcelona is being managed by an interim board and they cannot make any transfers unless all of the presidential candidates give the move a green light.
