The future of Lionel Messi is still up for speculation though one team is very certain that they can get his signature at the end of the season. That team is, of course, Paris Saint-Germain. The French giants have been very vocal about potentially signing the best player in the world and Angel Di Maria recently said that he would happily retire if he played with his national team compatriot next season in Paris.

The 32-year-old winger has been playing top-level football for almost 13 years now and he has played at a lot of clubs during his time. He also rivaled Lionel Messi for four years when he played for Real Madrid. However, he then went to move on to Manchester United but he failed to produce his magic in England. He left the English side for PSG and is currently on his sixth season with the club.

In an interview with TyC Sports, Di Maria said that he would love to play the seventh season at Paris with his national teammate. He mentioned that he has already played with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr.

Should he finally play with Lionel Messi at club level, he can retire satisfied. He said in the interview,

"“I had the opportunity at one moment in my career to go to Barcelona but it was not done.”“We could say that there is another chance to be able to play with him but my contract is coming to an end and I do not know what will happen. But I would be very happy to play alongside him.”“I have already played with Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe. If I could play as well with Leo, I could happily retire after that!”Source Goal"

He continued to joke that his wife made him promise that they would invite Messi for a barbeque if he moved to the Ligue 1 side. While Di Maria is a very important player for the French Champions, they have a lot of big money contracts coming up. With Neymar and Mbappe, both running out of contracts in less than 2 years, it is going to be tough for them to re-sign Di Maria. However, if they do let him go for free, he can still link up with Messi in Barcelona, should the Catalans sign him as well as manage to persuade Messi into signing a new contract.
