Barcelona might be relieved of their financial burden a little bit as Paris Saint-Germain are adamant about signing one of their defenders. The player in question is right-back, Emerson Royal, who is on loan at Real Betis. The player is being actively pursued by the French giants as they will be without a right-back by the end of the season.

More from Everything Barca

22-year-old Emerson has become PSG’s number one target to replace Alessandro Florenzi. The Italian right-back has performed well for the club since his arrival last year’s September, however, he will be on his way back to Roma at the end of the season. The Paris side does have youngster Colin Dagba, who could play in the position but according to their Sporting Director, Leonard, he is still not up to the mark.

Emerson on the other hand has managed to impress the PSG director and thus he has become a priority target for the French side. Leonard is prepared to offer up to 25 million euros for the youngster according to Sport. He had gained attention from AC Milan as well last summer and the Italian giants had offered Barcelona, 20 million euros. However, the player’s contract is co-owned by Betis and if he gets transferred while he is on loan at the Sevilla side, the Catalans must pay part of the transfer fee to Betis.

Thus it will be much wiser for the Catalan kings to sell Emerson after the Brazilian returns for his two-year loan in June 2021. His sale will not bother Koeman too much as he already invested quite a bit in Sergino Dest and instead his sale will help the financial crisis that the previous board put upon Barcelona.
