Victor Font has been one of the final three candidates to potentially be the next Barcelona president. The presidential seat for the club has been left vacant since the resignation of former club president Josep Maria Bartomeu. The election was supposed to take place in January 2021 but due to covid protocols, the election has been postponed.

Now the tentative date has been set for March and while the interim president, Carlos Tusquets, has been in charge of all the day-to-day activities at the club, the three candidates often hold meetings with him to discuss all the important topics.

Topics such as the ongoing financial crisis, potential outgoing/incoming transfers were all discussed in recent meetings. The idea is that whoever gets elected is up to date with the task in hand and this process ensures a smooth and quick transition of power.

While all 3 candidates have a different approach to resolving the issues at the Nou Camp, former president Joan Laporta and presidential hopeful Victor Font have been named the two favorites to win the hot seat.

Laporta has been reportedly leading the race as the memory of his previous term is still being echoed around town, resulting in many believing him to be the ideal leader to help resolve the mess left behind by Bartomeu.

While Laporta leads, Font hasn’t given up. He has been keen on expressing his plans for the future including the players he would like to bring to the club. Hence, if Victor Font is appointed as the future Barcelona president, the Spaniard has promised 8 potential signings that could take place in the upcoming transfer windows of 2021/22.
