This is a player who had a rather tough time getting into the team due to his problematic relationship with his new coach. Koeman told the La Masia graduate to go away on loan at the beginning of the season as he would not give the player many chances. Riqui Puig decided to stay and fight for his place. He has only started two games this entire season, both in the Copa del Rey and is yet to play more than 20 minutes in a La Liga game.

Although he has very limited playtime, Puig has done his best to show why he is one for the future and has managed to live up to the hype. He scored the winning penalty in the Supercopa de Espana and managed to score a goal against Elche in the La Liga after being brought on in the 87th minute.

The young player has a lot of talent and potential and he is currently being wasted by Koeman. The Dutch manager needs to put a bit more faith in the youngster and see what he can produce as the youth will one day be the face of the club. Puig is 21 years old now and he cannot afford to waste a season on the bench and should look for a loan deal next season if things do not change.
