Lionel Messi idolized by Borussia Dortmund youngster

One of the youngest and brightest prospects in European football right now is Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko. The center-forward from Cameroon has lit up the footballing world with his delightful skills and finishing. Thus it is not surprising to know that his biggest inspiration and idol was none other than the world’s best player, Lionel Messi.

The 16-year-old became the youngest player to debut and score in the Bundesliga after the league made adjustments to allow 16-year-olds on the field. He also became the youngest player ever to play a UEFA Champions League match when he played in the match against Zenit St. Petersburg.

His impressive 10 goals in three matches in the U-19 Bundesliga, made the German giants promote him to the main club. He has already scored two goals in the Bundesliga and seems to have a great future ahead of him. His brother, Borel Youssoufa, in an interview with Goal and DAZN, revealed that the both of them used to watch football together at home and that his brother always used to idolize Messi.

Borel said in the interview that in Africa it is a convention to watch matches in Bars together but they used to watch it at home and study the European elites. He said,

"“I liked to watch Barcelona, Real [Madrid], Liverpool and Bayern and see how the players behaved so that I could learn as much as possible from them, Youssoufa has always liked Lionel Messi. We also often watched the games from the top European leagues or the Champions League together. That was always wonderful.”Source Goal"

It is always good to see young dreamers taking inspiration from the likes of the greats and it is even better when they materialize into a great player themselves. Unfortunately for Barcelona however, there is no guarantee if their legend with stay with them or not but one this is for sure that Messi impacted many youngsters in the club and they will try to fill in the veteran’s spot.
