Lionel Messi matches Cristiano Ronaldo stat to reignite GOAT debate

This means that Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for open play goals has been equaled as the Portuguese legend also has 573 open play goals. One would think that the former Real Madrid star would have more open play goals as he is known for the long range shots but it looks like Lionel Messi can equal the Portuguese superstar in that aspect.
The way the two serial Ballon D’or winners have performed over the years, it is almost as if that the two either set new records every week or break them. It is absolutely astonishing how records are broken left and right by the two greatest football players that the world has ever seen, and that too on a regular basis.
Ronaldo too on the other hand is having a fantastic season as he has already scored around 25 goals in all competitions for Juventus this season, in almost the same number of games he’s played. While Messi has equaled this particular stat it does not look like any of these two will be slowing down anytime soon.
