Joan Laporta is one of the three candidates that are favorite to be the president of Football club Barcelona soon. The Spaniard is in competition against Victor Font and Toni Freixa. The official election was supposed to take place in January 2020 and the Blaugranas were supposed to have a newly elected president by now. However, due to coronavirus protocols, the election is now postponed to the upcoming month of March.

More from Everything Barca

Laporta is deemed to be the favourite to become the new Barcelona president but we will have to wait until March to find out for sure. However, the Spaniard has already set many plans on course, which will come into play if he were to eventually become the president. He has promised the fans many transfers and he has also promised to keep Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp at the end of this season, as he has been heavily linked with a move away and is also out of contract.

As of now, it looks like Laporta has made yet another bold claim. The potential president stated that he has “all the cards” ready to land Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland. The youngster has been a phenomenal talent so far and all big clubs of Europe like Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United are all heavily linked to the striker.

Hence, when Laporta was asked about Haaland, he stated that the club will be “economically sustainable” again soon. Hence, the fans are not to worry as he has all the “cards” ready to play out.

Laporta has also promised many other things to the fans, like more transfers and financial improvement. Only the arrival of March will let us know if Joan Laporta is to become the president or will it be Victor Font, or even Toni Freixa.
