Barcelona target Manchester City legend for major summer signing

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has been a huge target for Barcelona for the upcoming summer transfer window of 2021, according to Daily Mirror. The Argentine’s contract with the Citizens is coming to an end this summer and as the season end approaches there has been no sign of a contract renewal yet for the center-forward.

Recently, after Manchester City’s tie against Everton, the Argentine international stated that he is waiting for the season to end. He stated that he is in no hurry to make a decision as of now. The former Atletico Madrid forward also said that, for now, he is just focused on getting back from his major injury and playing football. The player seems to be completely focused on his game as he stated that once the season ends he will see whether he decides to stay at the City of Manchester Stadium or not.

However, major sources have also stated that Barca are looking to take advantage of this situation and land Aguero. The Argentine’s contract will be over so there won’t be any transfer fee required to land a world-class forward as they are having major financial issues at the club. Aguero has not held any talks with City regarding a renewal.

Ronald Koeman’s arrival saw a major forward like Luis Suarez depart the club. Ever since then, no proper replacement for the Uruguayan has been made. The Dutchman wanted Olympic Lyon’s Memphis Depay but that did not work out either due to the deep financial problems that the club are in. However, they might finally have a chance to get a short-term replacement for Suarez as the City legend has still got a few more years to give.

However, conclusions cannot be made so easily as the City number 10 is a legend for the club and may soon be offered a deal once the season concludes.
