Toni Freixa makes bold claims about Mbappe and Haaland to Barcelona
Barcelona are in a financial crisis but the club continues to link itself with big names players such as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. With a massive debt of 1.2 billion euros, it would be wise for the club to look at ways to save money instead of acquiring new players but the presidential candidates are sure that they have the power to bring in new superstars to the club.

First, it was Joan Laporta, who is also a former president of the club, who claimed that he had all the “right cards” to bring players like the Borussia Dortmund striker into the club. Now another candidate, Toni Frexia, has made similar claims although he gave a bit more detail about the method by which he will be able to afford the players.
In an interview with Catalonia-based radio station, RAC1, Frexia said that he had plans to bring in players such as Mbappe and Haaland. He said that he would be selling 49 percent of Barca Corporate for a fee of 250 million euros through which he would be acquiring the aforementioned players. He said in the interview,
"“We’ve been working on an agreement for a while and have now closed one that will bring in €250 million for 49 percent of Barca Corporate, And for the 2021-22 season (we will invest that money in) two difference-makers in attack and a great defender. The message is that Barça will have the competitive team that they have to have and that the supporters want. I’m talking in real terms, we will have the most competitive squad for next season.”Source Sport"
The Barca Corporate consists of Barça Innovation Hub, Barça Licensing and Merchandising, Barça Studios, and Barça Academies. When quizzed about the possibility of acquiring Haaland or Mbappe, the candidate said that he did not want to name anyone as it would increase their price and bring in oppositions However, he said that it was definitely possible.
These are extremely bold claims by both the candidates and only one of the candidates, Victor Font, has disagreed with them. He said that it was irresponsible of Laporta to make such claims as the club could not even afford Eric Garcia a few weeks ago. For Font, the first thing is to make sure that the club does not go bankrupt and thus he wants to save money instead of spending it.
