Barcelona have reportedly reduced their asking price for their French superstar, Antoine Griezmann, as the striker continues to struggle at the Nou Camp ever since in 2019 move from Atletico Madrid.

More from Everything Barca

The Catalan side signed Griezmann in the summer of 2019 with many considering him the future no. 9 for the club. Unfortunately for the French international, the presence of Luis Suarez forced him to play on the wings, which was a drastically different role from the double striker position he was used to under Diego Simeone’s Atleti.

Coming off the 2018 World Cup, Griezmann was considered by many as one of the best footballers in the world and a link-up with Lionel Messi and Suarez was deemed a lethal partnership after the departure of Neymar.

But the reality was far from the speculations as the Frenchman struggled to meet the numbers of his Atletico days. While his family blamed his off-position, Griezmann hasn’t lived up to the expectations even after Suarez’s departure to his former side.

The Frenchman has had a decent season so far, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assist in 35 matches (TransferMarkt), but these numbers are no where close to whats expected of a player costing close to 150 million dollars.

While Griezmann’s relationship with the Barca fans has been up and down depending on his performance, the financial situation of the club has many beliving that the French star should be sold at the end of the season in order to fund better reinforcements for the club.

OKDiario now claims that the Catalans are ready to do excatly that but not for the price fans would expect. The 29-year-old is reportedly being ready to be offloaded for 70 million dollars with Paris Saint-Germain and Mancheter United reported as the interested clubs.

Barca know that the pandemic would make it difficult to sell any player for large sum and as a result are ready to accept the 50% cut to the price-tag to what they had invested.
