With the presidential elections less than a week away, it is not surprising that all three candidates were asked their thoughts on the current situation the club faces.

"“It is not good news for the club,” said Joan Laporta. “Perhaps his regime was not a good one, but he is still a former president of Barcelona Football Club.”Source: Sport"

He went on to say that the arrest of Bartomeu is bad for the club.

Victor Font also said it was a bad image for the club in an interview with Spanish radio station Cope.

Toni Freixa’s statement could be interpreted as both a defense of the club and Bartomeu. He published his thoughts on his social media page stating that a lot of people want to cause Barca harm.

The club themselves released a statement about the arrests but did not mention any names. Instead, they only made reference to the investigation and the police entering the team offices. They offered their full cooperation as well as stating their respect for the judicial process.

They ended the statement by presuming the innocence of those involved.

The fallout from this situation is only starting. It is sure to ramp up as the date for the elections is fast approaching.

All three of the candidates were diplomatic in the way they gave their answers as was to be expected. Though some irony is not lost on Laporta given how he was treated after he left and Sandro Rosell, alongside Bartomeu, took over.
