Reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that Joan Laporta and his team will be very interested in signing Premier League legend, Sergio Aguero.

More from Everything Barca

The 32-year-old striker from Argentina is finishing his contract at the end of the season and he has publicly admitted that he does not know whether the team will offer him a new contract or not.

Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola has already started to replace the legendary striker with Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden has also played in a false nine position before. It looks like the former Atletico Madrid striker’s time is up at the Ethiad and he will have to look for another club next season.

This is where Barcelona comes in. Aguero will be a perfect candidate to complete Ronald Koeman’s team. The Dutch manager put together a good team but he needs a striker to finish in front of the goal. He was hoping to get Lautaro Martinez but the Inter Milan striker just cemented his career with the Italian giants and his only other target is Memphis Depay but the Lyon player is not a traditional number nine.

The Catalans are not in the financial position to buy a super striker and thus Aguero would be a very good temporary fix for the team. Luis Suarez has showed Koeman that age is not a factor in football and if Koeman had trusted the Uruguayan, they would not have been in this dilemma.

The Argentine striker could also help Lionel Messi remain at the club as they are compatriots as well as very close friends. Thus, Laporta will keep an attentive eye on the player and will definitely be looking to snatch him up should he become a free agent after the season ends.
