The age-old debate of Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo is hardly a new one with fans. While there is no one clear winner, a few years ago, Neymar Jr. made an interesting choice. In 2016, in an interview with UOL(via Marca), the Brazilian was asked if he would choose Messi’s left foot or Ronaldp’s right one, he cheekily stated,
"“I’d take Messi’s left foot, with all due respect to Cristiano, because my right foot is pretty handy too”Source : Marca"

In the same flow of questioning, he had a harder time picking between the legendary Pele and Leo, both of whom he looks up to. However, he was quick to admit he can’t make a choice as he has never seen Pele play, while he has played first-hand alongside Messi.
"“Unfortunately I never saw Pelé play. What I know of him is through my grandfather, my dad’s dad, who used to talk to me and tell me about how he played. It’s a difficult question for me, because I’ve seen Messi play and have had the chance to play alongside him. They’re both geniuses, though”"
While this may be a walk down memory lane to see Neymar’s answers, it holds true to date. The 28-year-old has always maintained his tremendous respect and admiration for Lionel Messi, which also led to a lot of speculation and debate about his return to the Nou Camp after the shocking exit to Paris Saint-Germain.
Is there a Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. reunion in the future?
Although he is a key player at PSG, he hasn’t always been able to impress and after the Champions League trophy eluding him in the finals, his desire to return to Barcelona was rather keen. At the same time, the Argentine national also wanted to reunite with him and create the magic they once had.
During Messi’s exit notice last summer, it was speculated that his staying was conditioned upon the signing of Neymar, however, due to circumstances like the President stepping down and Neymar choosing to stay on at PSG, nothing ever materialized. We can only hold our breath now and see what the next season unfolds for Lionel Messi and his Barcelona future.
