Lionel Messi is deciding on his future with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City being named as the two favorites if the six-time Ballon d’Or winner does decide to leave Barcelona this summer.

More from Everything Barca

Experts believe that there is a 50% chance that the Argentine leaves for a team with a better competitive squad with Barcelona looking to rejuvenate under Ronald Koeman. The current Barca squad is filled with youngsters set to be the superstars of the future but Messi at 33 years of age desires a team that can beat the likes of PSG, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

While newly elected Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, hopes that the youth-filled squad convinces their superstar to extend his expiring contract, Messi might have a different plan for the few years he has left in the top flight.

Spanish radio now report that regardless of which team Messi decides to play for next season, he is set to join David Beckham’s MLS side, Inter Miami in 2023. The report claims that a meeting was scheduled at Julio Iglesias’s residence where Leo’s father Jorge Messi was to discuss the Argentine’s potential move to Paris and what it would entail.

But the meeting was canceled after Laporta was elected as president but Messi’s future remains linked with the Parisians. It is understood that had Laporta not won the elections, Barca had a 0% chance of retaining Messi beyond this summer.

Inter Miami chief David Beckham had recently opened up about the idea of signing a player like Messi with the player himself revealing his long dream of moving to the United States.
