Ansu Fati has been part of Barcelona’s La Masia since he was ten years old. Already being immensely talented, he made his first-team debut before he was even 18. With his explosive performance and style, the youngster has already proven he’s on the way to becoming one of the greats.

At just 18 years of age, he has topped the NXGN 2021 list of 50 players and was the top male winner. Fati was starting to get regular minutes under Ronald Koeman, when he suffered a knee injury in November 2020, and has been out ever since.

The awards, organized by Goal, recognized him for his performance in the UEFA National Leagues as well as the fact that he broke a 95-year record and became the youngest goalscorer in history as he made his National debut for Spain.

Ansu Fati on his win and Barcelona support

Speaking in the interview, he addressed his dream to play at Euro 2020,

"“I don’t know what will happen in the future, but it is a dream for any player to be able to play a European Championship.”“First of all, I want to thank the people who have voted for me and, of course, my team-mates – without them, this would not have been possible,” he said. “Also, thanks to all the coaches I have had.”Source: Goal"

In November, after his injury, the estimated time of his return was within four months. However, he underwent a second surgery and perhaps the timeline increased. Blaugrana fans are hoping for him to make a return before the season ends perhaps in April itself.

Should he be fit enough to play, then perhaps he might just make his dream come true and make the cut for Spain’s 23 man squad for the Euros. However, it is highly dependent on his fitness and hopefully, he is injury-free by June.

The player and fans alike are eagerly awaiting his return on the pitch.
