PSG want to raid Barcelona for €26 million rated player
Dani Alves has unarguably been the best right back Barcelona have ever had. Since his departure to Juventus on a free transfer, the likes of Aleix Vidal and Nelson Semedo have been experimented, yielding unsatisfactory results. Sergi Roberto was moulded into one and arguably performed the best among the group but he wasn’t the natural right back solution to the long standing problems.
Semedo didn’t work out and was eventually sold to Wolves last summer for 30 million Euros. In came Sergino Dest from Ajax carrying a lot of promise with his name. The American has raw pace, smart decision making skills and an impressive ability to make an impact in the final third. If Dest continues his metamorphosis at this rate, Barcelona are secured at the right back for years to come.

Interestingly, Barcelona spotted another gem in Brazil, Emerson, and signed him in 2019 from Atletico Mineiro. The 22-year-old is partly owned by Barcelona and partly owned by Real Betis with each side paying 6 million euros. The Brazilian is on loan at Betis until 2021. The Blaugrana can either buy the complete rights of the player for 9 million euros or sell him and split the transfer fee with Betis.
According to Mundo Deportivo, PSG Sporting director Leonardo has set his eyes on Emerson and wants to bring him to Paris for next season. Additionally, Serie A giants Milan and Inter are also tracking the 22-year-old. Bayer Leverkusen are also expected to enter the fray as the plot for Emerson heats up.
Barcelona have to decide on the futures of Roberto and Emerson
Barcelona have a big decision to make in the summer as Sergi Roberto also enters the final 12 months of his contract. The newly elected board will have to mull over and make a choice whether to cash in on Roberto and sign Emerson by paying 9 million euros to Los Verdiblancos or renew the La Masia product and prepare for a windfall by selling the 22-year-old.
In Roberto, Barcelona can continue having a versatile, easily mouldable player capable of not only playing in the right back role but even in the midfield. He may not offer blistering pace but he offers composure on the ball that not many in the right back role can match. In Emerson, the Catalans have a much younger full back with frightening speed and dexterity.
A decisive summer awaits for both players.
