Sergio Aguero not a priority for Barcelona
It is no secret that high on Barcelona’s priority list for next season will be the addition of a striker. The problem is there isn’t exactly a long list of available prospects. One long rumoured prospect is Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero who recently announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, after spending 10 extremely successful years in Manchester.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, despite the fact Aguero could possibly arrive at Barcelona as a free agent, he is not considered a priority by manager Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman prefers a younger striker and there are a few names on his mind ahead of Aguero.

One school of thought is that by signing Aguero, it would entice Lionel Messi to stay and sign a new contract with the club as the two are very close friends. But with Aguero turning 33 in June, he would be a short-term option.
Another obstacle to a potential signing is his wages. One of the reasons the Blaugrana practically gave away the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez is because the Catalan club needed to reduce their massively high wage bill. It would make little sense than to sign Aguero who will expect handsome wages at Barca. The former Atletico Madrid striker pockets around 270,000 euros per week (Sportac) and matching such an amount is simply not plausible.
Sergio Aguero not on high priority list for Barcelona
Not to mention they would find themselves in a similar situation as they did with Suarez.
The club needs to get younger and Aguero doesn’t fit that mould. He’s not content with simply being on the bench and it’s probably a reason why he’s decided to leave City. The money potentially used on him is better off being spent somewhere else.
Joan Laporta and the new board will need to be diligent in where they allocate their transfer funds. Their priority seems to be Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. At this point in their respective careers, the smart move would be in doing everything they can to sign Haaland rather than Aguero.
