Barcelona reignite interest in Lautaro Martinez
With Sergio Aguero reportedly not high on manager Ronald Koeman’s list of priorities, Barcelona finds themselves needing to expand their search.
The club continues to dream about Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland but that transfer looks very difficult considering the transfer fee the German side are going to command.
In their search for an alternative, it has taken the club back to familiar territory. More specifically, they’ve set their sights back to Italy and Inter Milan.
Barcelona eye Lautaro Martinez
According to Sport, the Catalans are once again interested in Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez and consider him a plan B should they fail to sign Haaland.
The report claims that, unlike last time, Martinez’s entourage are not being as receptive as they believe the Blaugrana did not do enough to try to sign him before the start of the season.

On that occasion, Inter were seeking €110 million. Knowing they could not afford to spend that much, Barca proposed a smaller fee but including players in a possible transaction.
At the time, some of the names rumoured to be heading the other way, or at least being offered, were Arturo Vidal, Nelson Semedo and Arthur Melo. However, in the end, a deal was unable to be reached.
There is a mild optimist at Camp Nou and believe that with Inter’s owners looking to sell the club, it could play in their favour. Both Martinez and fellow striker Romelo Lukaku are sure to be in demand at the end of the season so Barcelona are sure to face stiff competition.
Martinez has scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 27 matches in Seria A this season and has been part of a solid partnership with Lukaku.
