Barcelona youngster Alex Collado was recently offered a new deal after the appointment of Joan Laporta. The 21-year-old signed a contract renewal, extending his stay with the Catalans till the year 2023. The Barca B captain is known to be a wholehearted Blaugrana fan.

It is his dream to play for the club’s first team and with the contract extension, he nears the dream as he is set to be with the club for a few more years. Obviously, the player is talented and has quality but needs to prove it on the big stage, and for that reason, Barca have added the option to extend his contract more than the year 2023 if he proves himself.
Collado currently captains the Barcelona B team. The 21-year-old has had a total of 77 appearances for the youth squad, in which he has scored a total of 16 goals. The Spanish winger is quick, very good on the ball, and extremely creative.
The player has also spent two years in Espanyol’s youth squad before moving to Barca in 2009, and with the looks of it, the youngster will soon have his chance with the first team, just like the likes of Pedri, Riqui Puig, and Ilaix Moriba.

The club made it their first and foremost priority to tie down Collado right after Joan Laporta was appointed as the new president. Hence, it was the first official player business after the returning president has done. The Spaniard was targeted by the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Sampdoria. According to Marca, one of Real Madrid‘s sporting directors also was keeping track of the youngster’s situation at the club. One can obviously comprehend the quick need to tie the player down after such events.
After signing the new deal, Alex Collado had announced on social media that he is very happy at the club and is extremely thrilled to have extended his stay. The winger surely has talent and his time to shine may come under Ronald Koeman very soon. It is believed that the youngster will heavily partake in next season’s friendly matches, after which time his future will be decided. He will either continue with the first team or leave on a loan.
