Barcelona have been performing extraordinarily under the guidance of former legend, Ronald Koeman. The manager started out his debut season with a lot of bumps, blocking his way to success. The lack of a transfer budget, the aging squad, and a captain who no longer wanted to lead the club.

Koeman overcame all these to get the Catalans back into the La Liga title race. To maintain this form and end the season on a positive note, the manager has asked the new president to do one thing which will help the team immensely at this stage.
Although The Catalan Kings are doing phenomenally currently, the fact of the matter is that the club is still struggling financially. On top of all the debt that the club has accumulated, they must also pay the player wages.
Barcelona has the highest wages of any club in all of Europe and it has finally begun to take its toll on the club. To continue on the same wage structure while keeping all the players is not possible at all and Joan Laporta might be looking to offload many players who do not hold a big role in the first team.
Koeman’s one request to Barcelona president
While this is the sensible thing to do for the club to avoid bankruptcy, it will affect the player’s mental health if he finds out that he is to be sold off next season. That is why Koeman held meetings with the president to request him to keep all the details of the operations as discreet as possible for the time being. It is important to finish the season with a bang and Barca have the chance to win two trophies this season.
Contract talks and transfer negotiations can wait until the end of the season and it will be more beneficial for the whole team. For now, the team must focus on La Liga where they sit in the second position, only one point behind leaders, Atletico Madrid. They have a match against Atletico where they could finally overtake them but they also have a match against Real Madrid upcoming. On top of that, they are also looking to take revenge on Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey finals. It’s a tough end to a decent season and they must all focus if they want to win any silverware this season.
