The 33-year-old enigmatic captain has been having a fantastic season however, the beginning of the season was filled with controversies. The Argentine was no longer happy at the Catalan club and wanted to leave for a more competitive club. Zidane opens up about the uncertainty surrounding Lionel Messi
The legendary El Clasico is coming up and Zidane opened up about Messi’s potential exit. As the manager of Real Madrid, he should be happy that Messi could leave Madrid’s biggest rivals however, keeping Messi in the league is good for La Liga and Zidane acknowledged that. He told reporters in a pre-match press conference,
"“Let him stay at Barça, he’s good there and it would be good for La Liga,”Source Sport"
Zidane was then asked what he thinks about Messi’s goal drought in El Clasico and the former French legend said that the player has world-class abilities and even when he is not scoring, he is always leading and providing for the team so Madrid should be wary of him regardless.
The match is a big match for both teams as it could go on to decide who lifts up the La Liga trophy this season. Barcelona are just one point behind the league leaders however, if they lose now, they might lose their grasp on the title. They also have a match coming up against Atletico Madrid where they will have the chance to directly steal points from the leaders. All in all, Koeman has a good chance of securing the double but even a single trophy would be a satisfactory season for the Catalans.
