Ansu Fati is unlikely to feature for Barcelona for what’s left of the season after a setback in his recovery from knee surgery.
There were rumors that he was going to need a third surgery as his recovery process was going slow. His entourage came out to deny the rumors of surgery but it was clear that the treatment wasn’t working.

In recent weeks, Fati was given a choice. Either go under the knife again or try a new treatment to see if his knee would respond better. Wanting to avoid another surgery, Fati opted for the latter. A risk given the injury history with other Barcelona players who have opted for a conservative treatment.
Ansu Fati suffered the injury in Barcelona’s match against Real Betis in November.
But there finally appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel for Fati and Barca.
According to Mundo Deportivo, via RAC1, Fati’s knee is responding well to the new treatment and there is some optimism that he may avoid having to endure a third surgery.
It is important to note that RAC1 was also the outlet that reported on the second surgery back in January. A procedure that the club did not make public.
Initially, the idea was that Fati would be able to feature in the Copa del Rey final between the Catalan side and Athletic Bilbao. Given the slow recovery process, that isn’t going to happen.
While there is no timetable for his return, the important thing is that his knee is responding to the new treatment. Fati is still not out of the woods yet and Barca will continue to monitor his progress.
