Neymar once again linked with Barcelona return
The rumours simply refuse to die down as Neymar is once again being linked with a move back to Barcelona.
According to Sport, French outlet L’Equipe claim that a possible reunion continues to be on the cards. The report claims that Neymar has put a pause on signing an extension with PSG as he hopes pressure by some of the Barça players, including Lionel Messi, will convince the Catalan side to try to sign him.

Neymar has not lost that dream of playing with Messi again. At the beginning of the season, his belief was that PSG would try to sign Messi given his desire to leave Barca. Things have changed since the infamous burofax.
The most significant change was the election of Joan Laporta. The relationship between Laporta and Messi, as well as the improvement of the team under Ronald Koeman, makes it likelier that Messi will decide to stay and agree to a new contract.
Neymar has frozen the PSG extension talks as the door to Barcelona return remains open
As a result, a reunion in Paris seems unlikely. Therefore, Neymar is going to hold out as long as he can and hope the Blaugrana come knocking. It is something he believes Laporta can do and has more faith in a move happening with him as president than with the previous board under Josep Maria Bartomeu.
There were rumours that Neymar would be willing to wait until next season and sign for free. However, talks between him and PSG are progressing and PSG are not going to let one of their best players leave without receiving some sort of transfer fee. Add in Barcelona’s lack of funds and the odds of them and PSG coming to an agreement get even more remote.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Neymar, or his camp, are fueling these rumours to get more money out of PSG. Regardless, the whole saga has a higher likelihood of ending with the Brazilian signing an extension with PSG than him returning to the Camp Nou.
