The Blaugranas were beaten by Real Madrid 2-1 away from home which saw the whites go ahead in the La Liga table. The Catalans currently sit in the third position. The league is definitely far from over as the three clubs are very close to each other with 8 games to go.
Barcelona board unhappy with Koeman blaming referee
As for Ronald Koeman, his position as the manager of the club seems to be in danger. According to Football Espana, the Barcelona board are not satisfied with the team’s performance in El Clasico. Especially with the fact that the Dutchman blamed the VAR for the defeat. The club believes that the whole game was played out completely fair and there was not any illegal decision from the referee or the VAR but the former Southampton coach disagrees.
The Barca board are not exactly happy with the coach putting out such excuses after a loss. While the penalty decision is up for debate, Real Madrid won the game because Barca failed to convert their many chances and that’s what Koeman should be angry about and not the refs’ decisions.
These very same reports now suggest that the board are a little disappointed with the coach and will not be keeping him on the long run. Xavi Hernandez continues to be a very good option for Barca. The former Blaugrana man has turned down an offer previously stating that he was not ready for it. However, the former number 6 just won the league with his side Al Sadd, completely unbeaten.
Should Barca give Koeman more time?
