Barcelona are reportedly extremely close to landing Manchester City legend Sergio Kun Aguero according to reports from La Porteria. The City legend is out of contract in the summer and just a few weeks ago he personally confirmed through social media that he will be parting ways with the club after ten years of service. The footballer came to the premier league as a very young boy and he will be leaving as an absolute legend of the league and the game.

TyC Sports also suggest that Barcelona have had very heavy and intense discussions with Aguero and his lawyers in the past few days. A move for the Argentine to the Nou Camp will be an absolutely fantastic move if it does go through, given the player’s experience and the lack of a proper striker in the current Barca squad. It looks like the deal between the two parties is almost complete and the Blaugranas will most likely be landing the center-forward as a free agent in the summer.
Aguero’s salary was going to be a major problem. It was also one of the reasons Manchester City did not comply with the player. Given Barca’s financial problems at the club, it was always going to be difficult to land a player with such heavy wages. However, the reports that are providing information on this front, have also stated that the City legend has agreed to take a pay cut in order to play for the La Liga giants.
Sergio Aguero to be a short-term solution for Barcelona
It will be a massive signing for the club and they will finally have a proper replacement for Luis Suarez who left the club last year and joined Atletico Madrid. The club can also witness a fantastic partnership between Lionel Messi and Aguero if the deal goes through. The two are known to be very good friends from a very young age from during their time in Argentina. Both of them thrived heavily in the under-17 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 Olympics too.
Given the forward’s age, the solution is only short-term. The Argentine looks like he’s got a solid 2-3 years of top-flight football still left in him. This transfer will buy Barcelona some more time to find a proper long-term forward in order for a more stable future.
