Defense

Oscar Mingueza

Oscar Mingueza has had a meteoric rise with the Catalan side. He was an emergency center-back but has managed to carve out a place in the first team. However, he’s had his share of mistakes recently.

He played a role in Granada’s equalizer and drew the ire of Koeman for not following tactical direction. He was an unused substitute against Valencia and saw his spot taken by Ronald Araujo.

Unless Koeman prefers the aerial advantage that Araujo would offer, it should be a safe bet that Mingueza will return to the starting lineup.

Gerard Pique

With the change in system, Barcelona now play with three center-backs. With Gerard Pique back fit and healthy, he is going to be the anchor in the middle of that defense.

While he has his share of critics, there is no denying that he is still important for the club and teammates. He’s the organizer and vocal leader and that is important especially with some of his younger teammates.

Clement Lenglet

Clement Lenglet has had an up-and-down season. He’s been marked with unfortunate mistakes that have led to penalties and goals.

Expect the Frenchman to start simply by default. Barcelona do not have another left-footed defender that Koeman trusts. His other choice would be Samuel Umtiti and it is clear that Umtiti is living out his final days as a Barcelona player.
