#5 Memphis Depay of Olympique Lyonnais (Age: 27 | Forward)

The former Manchester United winger, Memphis Depay was probably Barcelona’s biggest transfer option in the summer transfer window. After selling Suarez, the Catalans needed a number nine, and Koeman suggested Depay. While the 27-year-old is not a striker traditionally, he can play in that role quite well and he was primarily used as a number nine by Koeman in the Netherlands National team.

The Catalans tried their best to bring the Lyon player into their club and even tried selling Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United in order to raise funds for the transfer. However, the French superstar rejected the move to the English side and thus Barcelona were unable to procure funds to bring Depay to the club. The Catalans still haven’t lost interest in the player though, and they are willing to try and bring him in next season for free.

Depay’s contract with the French side ends at the end of this season and the player is eager to join Barcelona and further his career. Depay would be an excellent choice for the Catalans as not only has he improved a lot from his time at Manchester, but his versatility will help out the club a lot as well.
