He was asked questions about his future and intimated that he might be the one to make the decision with regards to not being back next season.
Ronald Koeman’s future at Barcelona not secure as it once was.
While he made it clear that he wants to be back, he needs certain conditions to be met.
"“For me, you have to judge the season as a whole,” Koeman said. “We’re disappointed at not having taken advantage of our opportunities to be [league] leaders. We didn’t do it.“The important thing for a manager is to feel he has the confidence on the part of the club. I can and I want to stay if that is the case.”Source: Mundo Deportivo"
Joan Laporta met with Koeman earlier in the week to discuss what went wrong this season and to explain why the team faltered in the last couple of weeks.
As the Dutchman said, the Catalans had multiple chances to go top of the table but fell short every single time.
The pair will meet once again once the season is over where his future may ultimately be resolved.
The manager feels that his team had a good season in terms of the expectations. Barcelona came into this season having been humiliated in the Champions League and only making a few signings. They’ve also had to deal with long-term injuries to some of their best players.
The transfer situation may be the same in the summer but the club is apparently close to inking deals with free agents Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay. These signings may be a way to let Koeman know that he is backed.
As far as whether or not he is concerned with being let go, Koeman isn’t too worried about it at the moment. He understands the president has the final say and it will come at the end of the season.
