#2 Marquinhos (Age: 26 | Club: Paris Saint-Germain)

Paris Saint Germain’s Marquinhos would be another ideal option for the Blaugrana. He’s brilliant in the air. Defending and scoring from set-pieces is his major quality. He’s physically very strong and he’s an extremely good ball progressor.

He’s brilliant at passing the ball forward and he’s good at carrying the ball forward too. Signing the Brazilian will make a massive statement. He is capable of having the major impact Van Dijk has had on Liverpool or Ruben Dias has had at Manchester City.

#1 Matthijs De Ligt (Age: 21 | Club: Juventus)

The Dutchman has been under Barcelona’s radar ever since he was at Ajax. The young centre-back had a huge role in the progression of Ajax till the semis in the 2019 season. However, they lost to Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur in the semis. Both De Ligt and De Jong left for bigger clubs in Juventus and Barca respectively.

The Catalan side tried extremely hard to acquire De Ligt alongside De Jong but matters with the player’s agent along with his expensive transfer fee was something that Spanish giants couldn’t deal with at the time. It was also rumoured that the defender felt that he will have to fight for playing minutes at the Nou Camp, which he felt would hinder his growth.

De Ligt is physically very strong compared to today’s young centre-backs. He’s absolutely brilliant in the air and wins most aerial challenges. He’s got fantastic sliding tackle and standing tackle ability. The 22-year-old is able to keep his calm always and progress the ball very well.

The former Ajax captain would be a fantastic addition to this Barcelona squad especially with the presence of Ronald Koeman who would prefer having more Dutch players in the team.
