Rumors of a Ter Stegen move away from Barcelona quickly shot down

As has been the case the past couple of seasons, Barcelona’s transfer strategy has been that in order to go out and spend in the market, they need to sell players first.

Despite being a big club, they only have a handful of players that would interest other teams and one such player is goalkeeper is Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Reports began surfacing that he could be on the move.

More from Everything Barca

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ter Stegen is not contemplating nor angling for a move away from the Camp Nou. Sources from the keeper’s camp told the Catalan outlet that they have no information about a possible move.

They were also quick to mention that Ter Stegen only recently signed a five-year extension. Those negotiations were drawn out but the two sides were able to eventually come to an agreement.

Ter Stegen is happy at the club and has quickly adapted to the city. All he is focused on at the moment is recovering from an intervention on his knee and be ready in time for the start of the season. The procedure kept him out of the Germany squad for Euro 2020.

He had been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund but they have another goalkeeper in mind.

The rumor of a Ter Stegen exit possibly surfaced because Barcelona were linked with AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian keeper is out of contract this season.

Ter Stegen perfectly fits the qualities that the Catalan side need in a goalkeeper. He’s become one of the leaders on the pitch and, aside with Messi, one of the reasons they won the Copa del Rey and were able to fight for the league title.

President Joan Laporta has a lot of decisions to make with regards to the future of a lot of Barca players. Ter Stegen, however, is not one of them. His future is clear.
