Barcelona officials will meet the agent of Sergio Busquets to discuss salary cuts as the new administration aims at reducing the oversized wage bill.
When Joan Laporta stated that big changes are coming, he meant every word of it. Barcelona are set to enter crunch months as new President Laporta revamps the club and attempts to revitalize the finances.
Sporting decisions will be taken, starting from scrutinizing Ronald Koeman and pondering over his continuity as the club’s manager. Laporta has already met Koeman and had a conversation over his future. Several players will also be offloaded who do not fit in the sporting project. Names such as Philippe Coutinho, Martin Braithwaite, Matheus Fernandes and several others could be headed through the Camp Nou exit door.

Players in their thirties with diminishing future value are on astronomical salaries and Laporta’s administration will attempt to bring their salaries down to a more economical figure.

In order to stabilize the club finances, the Blaugrana are set to meet agents of several players to discuss a possible salary reduction.
Salary cuts will also be placed on club’s heavyweights who are often deemed as untouchables. This will be extremely tricky for Laporta and his administration but they are prepared to discuss it keeping the larger picture in mind.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Josep Maria Orobitg, agent of Sergio Busquets, has been summoned by the club for a meeting later this week. Busquets’ agent will meet Barcelona officials on Friday with the club’s agenda to review the player’s salary and propose a wage cut.
However, the player’s entourage has communicated that the player won’t agree onto anything until the coach for next season has been decided as things could change in sporting and economic sense very soon.
