Max Allegri was offered to Barcelona as Ronald Koeman replacement before return to Juventus
Ronald Koeman could be relieved of his duties as the Barcelona manager as new President Joan Laporta carries out a strict audit of the club. As a result, several managers available on the market have been linked with the managerial job at Barcelona. Massimiliano Allegri or popularly known as Max Allegri was the latest out of job manager to find himself linked with the position occupied by Koeman.
Koeman assumed charged of a disjointed Barca side in the summer of 2020 and took several harsh decisions as the club began the squad overhaul. Some decisions like the Luis Suarez sale have backfired but there is enough argument that shipping out ageing players on hefty wages was the need of the hour.

In his debut season as the Blaugrana boss, Koeman took Barcelona to third place in La Liga and directed them to a Copa del Rey triumph. However, the failure to beat Atletico Madrid to the title and premature exit in the UEFA Champions League left a bad remark on Koeman’s CV because a club of Barcelona’s size is expected to compete on domestic as well as European front on regular basis.
Laporta recently had showdown talks with Koeman and the manager’s future still remains undecided. A list of managers have been touted as possible replacements should the Dutchman be fired in the summer.
Max Allegri was offered to Barcelona
As per Mundo Deportivo, Max Allegri was offered to Barcelona should Koeman be sacked. The Italian has been out of job since the past two years and has given up on several opportunities to return to management. Allegri was offered the manager’s role at AS Roma and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this year but he turned both the offers down.
Allegri is now set to return to management with Juventus as Andrea Pirlo is set to be sacked and Allegri will make a return to Turin.
An intermediate had offered Allegri to Barcelona who was also considered for the role when Ernesto Valverde was fired. Despite being offered, the club board is not very confident about Allegri. The former Juventus boss is regarded as a confident man but will require a long term project at the club, something that doesn’t fit into the new President’s plans.
With the imminent Juventus appointment, the name of Allegri is ruled out. Koeman’s future will also be decided soon.
