#5 Barcelona Vs Paris Saint-Germain (UEFA Champions League | Round of 16-2nd leg)
Barcelona may have lost the blockbuster tie against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League however, their second leg showed everyone that they can still compete against Europe’s biggest names. Yes, while it is true that PSG were definitely more defensive that game, given the fact that they already had a three-goal lead, the Catalans did have a lot of chances to close the gap in the first half itself.
Pedri along with Lionel Messi dominated the midfield and created a lot of balls for Ousmane Dembele. Unfortunately, he did not have his shooting boots on that evening and wasted many chances. Messi however, was all business and scored a stunning goal from distance to bring them level after they went down 1-0 from a controversial penalty. However, Barca just did not have the luck to proceed and the captain even missed a crucial penalty just before halftime.
Sergino Dest also hit the bar in the first half and the Catalans were absolutely dominant. However, due to the penalty miss and the fact that PSG were happy to sit in their own half, they were not able to break them down again in the second half and PSG won the tie. This was a crucial game for Barcelona and no one expected them to play so well against a well-oiled PSG side.
