#4 Barcelona Vs Juventus (UEFA Champions League | Group stages-1st Leg)

This was one of Ronald Koeman’s early games with his new side and to face a team of Juvetus’ caliber was always going to be a huge challenge. This was the first time Koeman’s team would face such a big challenge in Europe and after a horrible 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the league, not much was expected from the team. However, Barcelona went on to dominate possession and ended up winning the match in a very professional manner.

As it is with most big matches, the players were reserved and most of the match was played in the midfield, Once again Pedri did well and Griezmann, who was playing behind Messi, also did well. The French superstar hit the crossbar early in the match and there were many times in the match when the Juventus defense was sliced open and Bonucci and Demiral had to scramble to make a block or a clearance.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 14th minute with some luck and in the 91st minute, Messi scored a penalty to secure a 2-0 victory over the Italian giants. It was a very professional display by the club and even though we could not witness the much anticipated Messi Vs Cristiano Ronaldo rivalry, we did manage to see a new Barcelona side defeat a well-trained Juventus side.
