#3 Barcelona Vs Sevilla (Copa del Rey | Semi Finals-2nd leg)
Barcelona’s only title last season was the Copa del Rey and they almost missed out on the title after suffering a devastating first-leg defeat to Sevilla. The Catalans lost 2-0 and they needed to show a brave face with tactical genius to overcome the odds in the second leg. On top of that, the Catalans faced Los Nervionenses in the league right before their semi-final match.
This meant that Koeman had to change tactics as the Catalans won that tie 2-0 and Sevilla would definitely not fall for the same tactics. It was a great display of determination from the players and every player on the pitch wanted to win. Barcelona as usual held most of the ball and dedicated the play, They had almost 70 percent of possession throughout the game and had 22 attempts in the game. However, Sevilla were happy to sit back and defend, and even after going a goal down in the 12th minute, Sevilla were dedicated to keep on defending.
Their strategy seemed to have worked out and it looked like there would be more heartaches for the Catalan fans however when there is a will, there is a way and in the 90th minute, Gerard Pique headed in a ball delivered by Griezmann from a well-taken corner. This meant extra time was on for the Catalans however, they did not even need that as in a dramatic end to the semi-finals, Martin Braithwaite put the ball at the back of the net in the 95th minute and Barcelona were through to the finals. It was a tough game physically and mentally however, the players kept pushing till the end and finally reaped the rewards of their hard work.
