The season was quite tough for the Catalans and they needed to win a trophy last season after their trophyless season in 2019/20. The League was a tough ask as Atletico had maintained a stronghold on that and they had already been kicked out of the UCL and the Supercopa de Espana.
After a shock defeat to Bilbao in the Supercopa finals, it was time for Barcelona to exact revenge in the Copa finals. They took sweet revenge in one of the most dominating finals in recent history as they went on to win 4-0 comfortably. It was not much of a challenge for the Catalan kings as they took apart Bilbao and won their only trophy of the season.
Messi was once again the man who made the difference although the whole team was just a class above Bilbao. Messi scored two goals, the team had almost 80 percent possession and kept 12 shots on target. It was pure domination and Bilbao had no response to the deadly and motivated Barca side. Their performance in the finals has to be their best performance in the 2020/21 season and it poetically won them the trophy as well.
