#7 Lionel Messi (Barcelona 4-0 Osasuna)

Messi scored 30 goals last season in the La Liga alone, thus it is not surprising to see his name on this list pop up multiple times. His goal against was a typical Messi-style goal from outside the box. He drew in the defenders towards him before shifting the ball onto his preferred left leg and he took a brilliant shot to place the ball in the top right corner of the goal. Although the goal was brilliant, it is something Messi does regularly.

However, the reason why this is one of the most important goals of last season, and maybe the most emotional of his entire career, is because of the motivation behind the goal. This was the first match the Argentine played after the unfortunate death of Diego Maradona, a god in football.

The 33-year-old wanted to score a goal in his honor and he had a great tribute planned out. After he scored the goal, he took off his Barcelona shirt to reveal an old Newell’s Old Boys shirt belonging to Maradona. He even recreated Maradona’s iconic celebration. This has to be one of football’s greatest tributes and I am sure Maradona would be proud of the celebration.
