Barcelona Transfers: Top Striker options for 2021/22 season

Barcelona had a huge mismanagement last season when they let legendary striker, Luis Suarez, go to Atletico Madrid. The Catalans were sure that the Uruguayan was too old to be playing at the top level and they were looking for a younger alternative. Not only were they unable to find someone to replace the veteran, Suarez also went on to lift another La Liga title but this time with Atletico.

The Catalans understood their mistake and secured a striker as soon as the season got over. Barcelona managed to get one of the biggest generational strikers of all time, Sergio Aguero. The Argentine could not agree upon a contract with Manchester City so Barca signed him on a free transfer. It seems like the Catalans learnt that age is not an important factor in football as Suarez went on to score over 20 goals for Atletico last season.

Aguero is 33 years old and only has a few years left in him but he could still have a big impact on the team. Last season the club’s main scorer was Lionel Messi who scored 30 goals in the league alone. This cannot go on as they need more scorers in the team and cannot leave it all up to one man. Thus, while Aguero is definitely a solid player, he is more of a temporary solution and the club needs a younger striker for the long run.
