Pele’s message to Lionel Messi on his 34th birthday

Lionel Messi recently celebrated his 34th birthday and he did not celebrate it alone, the entire world celebrated alongside him. The Argentine is often referred to as the best footballer of the modern generation and he has six Ballon d’Ors to back up that sentiment. He received wishes from fans all around the globe however, he also received wishes from the best players all over the world, even the footballing god, Pele, himself.

The Argentine, who is currently captaining his nation in Copa America, was sent wishes from his teammates, former teammates, and many other professional players. Notable players such as Ronaldinho and Hristo Stoichkov, gave the player public wishes however, the most heartwarming one was from Pele.

Pele’s message to Lionel Messi

The former Brazilian legend said this on social media,

"“Happy birthday Lionel, continue to make the football world smile.”Source Mundo Deportivo"

The legend had also congratulated Messi a few months back when the player broke Pele’s record of playing the most number of games in a single club. It is good to see that football has the ability to connect the older generations to the newer ones. For now, Messi is concentrated on winning Copa America however, we are sure that the messages from his loved ones put a smile on his face.

The Catalan captain is yet to confirm a new contract with Barcelona however, reports do suggest that a new contract is almost ready and that Messi is willing to stay on at his childhood club. It will be a shame if the player leaves the club after June, as he was the most important player for the Blaugrana last season and he scored 30 goals in the league alone.
