Andres Iniesta hails Kylian Mbappe as better fit for Barcelona than Haaland

While Kylian Mbappe may have missed in the penalty shootouts against Switzerland in the Euros, Andres Iniesta, believes that the French player will be a better fit for Barcelona than Erling Haaland. The current president of the Catalan Kings, Joan Laporta, is adamant about bringing the Norwegian striker to the Camp Nou however, Iniesta disagrees with the president on this matter.

Both the players, Mbappe and Haaland, have been the talk of the footballing world for months now. They are two players who will supposedly become the next Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of Ballon d’Or battles, thus it is not hard to see why all the top clubs in the world are going for them. While Kylian is quite settled at Paris Saint-Germain, Haaland is at Borussia Dortmund and thus elite teams will find it easier to sign the striker.

Ever since Laporta announced that he would be running for the 2021 Barcelona elections, he has continuously stated that he wants to bring Haaland to the club. His relationship with the striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, made the deal seem possible, however, after hearing some advice from former legend, Andres Iniesta, Laporta might reconsider.

Andres Iniesta prefers Kylian Mbappe over Erling Haaland for Barcelona.

In an interview with El Transistor, the former midfielder said,

"“Perhaps because of his characteristics Mbappe would fit better at Barca than Haaland. They are two very good players who are on everyone’s lips, we will see if they continue in their teams and do not change this summer.”Source Goal"

While the Catalans do not have the funds for going after any of these players this season, the rumors about these stars potentially joining Barcelona in the next season, have continued to rise. Haaland even had a meeting with Laporta while Mbappe’s deal with Real Madrid is increasingly becoming unlikely to go through.

These are all positives that Barca must keep in mind and adjust their budget accordingly. The Catalans do not have much budget nor do they have enough space to accommodate more top-level players and they should focus on their youths more at this stage. Andres Iniesta was full of praises for youth talent, Pedri, and we cannot wait to see what the Spaniard has in store for us next season.
