Barcelona keen on securing AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli

It’s been an extremely busy transfer window for Ronald Koeman and his Barcelona. So far, the team has already landed major stars in order to improve the team and they are also on the lookout for more players. For example, AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli is now heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp. The Catalans are extremely keen on landing his signature and according to The Mundo Deportivo, it is said that Romagnoli is also very interested to receive a fresh start in the La Liga.

Barcelona has already landed Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia from Manchester City for free in this transfer window, while also recently announcing the signing of Olympic Lyon’s Memphis Depay, who has been in phenomenal form. The player is said to be a marquee signing for the Catalans and as usual, everyone already expects big things from the player. The club’s attacking line-up already had pretty big names such as Ansu Fati, Lionel Messi, and Antoine Griezmann. Now they also consist of Aguero and Depay.

With the attacking and midfield already filled with great names, the Catalans have shifted their focus to signing more defensive reinforcements. Despite signing Eric Garcia as center-back and Emerson for the right flank, Barca are still interested in bringing in another center-back while also signing a left-back to support Jordi Alba.

While Valencia captain Jose Gaya remains the favorite to land the left-back role, the center-back position is a complicated matter. Man City’s Aymeric Laporte and Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt are the two names Joan Laporta wants to bring in but their deals are both complicated and extremely expensive for the Catalans.

Thus in search for an alternative, the La Liga giants are interested in landing the AC Milan captain in order to make some improvement in their defense. The current Barca defenders are either aging or very injury-prone. The likes of Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti are also very error-prone. The club needs new faces and a new mentality in the defense.

Alessio Romagnoli would be a fantastic addition to the team. He’s brilliant when it comes to clearing set pieces and winning aerial duels which is a huge issue at the club. He’s very good on the ball and is also a great passer of the ball hence, he’ll fit right into the team. He is also pretty fantastic at tracking back and stopping or disrupting counterattacks.

Hence, Alessio Romagnoli will receive a fresh start to revive his career and earn his spot back amongst the top center-backs in Europe, if a deal with Barcelona is completed. It looks very likely given that the Catalans are looking for a defender. The financial problems still exist at the Nou Camp hence, Romagnoli may be a fantastic addition for the money Milan would charge for him.
