The Barcelona squad is full of talented players and everyone has a big price tag attached to their names. Players like Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig have extremely high release clauses which scare away even the biggest clubs from attempting to steal them away. However, there are a lot of big names that the club no longer needs or it would be better for Barca if they were to be sold. These players can still bring in a significant amount of money which will not only help the club in the time of a financial crisis but also help them maintain player wages.

More from Everything Barca

In the past few seasons, the Catalans have made a lot of transfers which have not been fruitful in the long run. Players such as Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho have cost the Blaugrana a lot of money but they have not performed up to their expected standards. This situation could have been avoided if former president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, put more focus on youth player developments rather than buying such high-priced players. The Catalans have always been a club that prioritized youth development over buying superstars, however, Bartomeu did not want to spend the time developing players, and instead, he wanted instant results.

This resulted in a nearly bankrupt club that needed to sell players in order to bring in reinforcements or even delegate the contracts of their current players. The club has not been able to re-sign Lionel Messi due to the budgetary limitations placed on them by La Liga’s governing body. The club’s only way out of this financial turmoil is by selling some of their biggest players whom they no longer require. In the last season, Ronald Koeman helped young players such as Pedri, Ronald Araujo, and Oscar Mingueza have their breakthrough seasons and thus it seems like the Catalans are going back to their old ways of trusting the youths.

Now that they have realized the potential of their youth academy boats, they should look into selling some of the players they no longer require. They have already sold some players such as Jean Claire Todibo and Konrad de la Fuente however, they will need to sell some much bigger names in order to fix their wage budget. Thus, today we will be talking about the five top players Barcelona can sell in order to boost their finances.
